About TM CARPENTRY
Background
I've been a carpenter for over 10 years — fitted joinery, structural carpentry on extension and renovation projects, and the awkward in-between jobs where flatpack gives up. I run TM Carpentry as a one-person trade operation across Bath, Bristol and Keynsham, taking on work I can see through from the first site visit to the final handover myself.
I work on kitchens, fitted wardrobes, garden rooms, timber extensions, decking and fencing, doors and staircases, flooring and skirting, custom cabinets, and structural carpentry on larger builds. Every job — fitted joinery or whole-build carpentry — gets the same written quote, the same tidy site, and the same care with the final fixings.

How I work
I quote in writing, I turn up when I say I will, and I leave the site tidy at the end of each day. If something's going to change the price or the timeline, you'll hear about it before it happens — not on the invoice.

Before you book
Questions customers ask before booking
How long have you been doing this?
Over ten years of full-time carpentry, split between site work for builders (first and second fix on extensions, renovations and self-builds) and made-to-measure joinery for homeowners. The first few years were with a small firm; the last decade has been running my own jobs.
Do you do the work yourself, or have you got a team?
Every project is personally overseen from start to finish. Depending on the size and scope of the work, you may see me working alongside trusted members of my team, all of whom share the same high standards and attention to detail. If your project requires specialist trades such as electricians, plumbers, plasterers, or decorators, I can arrange and coordinate them, giving you a single point of contact throughout. You'll always know who's coming to your property, and every project is managed to ensure a smooth, professional finish.
Do you have a workshop, or do everything on-site?
There's a workshop just outside Bath where most of the joinery gets built off-site — cabinets, wardrobes, door sets, drawer units. It's faster, cleaner and the cuts are more accurate with proper machinery than working in a kitchen or a hallway. Final fit, scribing and finishing trim happens on-site where it has to.
Where do you actually work?
Bath, Bristol and the villages between (Keynsham, Saltford, Bradford-on-Avon, the Chew Valley, etc.). Most jobs are inside the M4 corridor. If you're outside that I'm happy to have the conversation — the further out, the more a minimum call-out matters, so we'd usually agree a fixed-price quote rather than day rate.
Can I see examples of your work before I book?
Yes — the /our-work/ page has photos and a brief write-up of recent jobs across the area, and the homepage has comments from past customers. If you want to see a specific type of work (a particular kitchen style, an alcove setup, a curved stair) that's not in the gallery, send a note and I'll let you know if I've done something similar.
In customers' words
What people say about the work
Tom is a real craftsman and made our ideas and vision for our office come to life. Tom was a pleasure to work with and is a highly skilled and professional carpenter; we have already engaged for the next project! Excellent value. Highly recommended.
Tom is an excellent carpenter and I would highly recommend him. He has great attention to detail, craftsmanship and is very solution focused. Tom always thinks about the best materials for the job and the best way to implement it. Tom has done a couple of jobs for us and we are very pleased with the results, we would recommend Tom and use his services again.
Tom recently hung a new door for me and did some boxing in. He was quick, worked spotlessly and was great at communicating availability and the progress of the work. Brilliant and will definitely ask Tom to complete more work for me in the future.
Tom was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave advice regarding our requirements for built in wardrobe shelving and doors. He provided a very competitive pricing for works to be undertaken at the outset.
